Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP)

The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) helps families with children meet their basic needs, while helping parents move to financial stability through work. Parents are expected to work, and are supported in working with both cash and food assistance. Most families have a lifetime limit of 60 months on MFIP. mn.gov/dhs/ 763-422-7200

Low cost and no cost birth control and reproductive health care. Annual checkups, pregnancy test, urinary tract infaction treatment, ect. Verification for M.A. And Minnesota Care applications. Charges on sliding scale. Onsite enrollment for Minnesota Family Planning Program (MFPP) for income eligible patients. Office open Mondays wednesdays, and Fridays. Call for appointment.

MinnesotaCare is a publicly subsidized health care program for residents who do not have access to affordable health care coverage. It is funded by a state tax on Minnesota hospitals and health care providers, federal Medicaid funds and enrollee premiums. Most enrollees pay a monthly premium based on family size and income. Children under 21, some military families, and families with an enrolled American Indian do not pay a monthly premium.

Provides marital/couples counseling, play therapy for children, and group therapy for men, women, adolescents and children.


Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)

Parents are their child's first and most important teacher and caregiver. Families need quality early childhood programs while parents are at school, work, or to enhance the work of a stay at home parent/guardian. Included in this section are programs and services which support young children and families by providing information, education, and/or direct child care.

Minnesota's Quality Rating and improvement System. Parent Aware's Star Ratings help parents find programs that go above and beyond to prepare children for school and life. Our 1-4 star rating system -a free service-measures best practices identified by reserch and help children succeed. Providers can work with a quality coach to achieve their rates. We are a referral source for families, proving information and support to families in search of child care, provide resources for child care providers, and provide professional growth and development with educational programs, grants training, consolation and coaching with parent aware. We reach out to businesses and communities to generate awareness and support for high quality child care. CAPE (Child and parent Education) Centers: (763)506-1561

Provides child care while student parents attend classes at their own schools. Transportation for child and parent is provided free for residents of Anoka-Hennepin School District 11. Students out of district may be eligible but would need to provide own transportation. Must attend school within District 11 qualify. Serving young parents up to age 21. Programs include ECFF and parenting classes.

www.accap.org A free preschool program for children ages birth to five of income eligible families. This program concentrates on child development and parental involvement. Individualized programs for children with special needs. Home based programs available. Serves Anoka and Washington County. Wrap around child care available at some sites. Call for application.


Homelessness and Housing Assistance:

Minnesota Housing
Minnesota Housing is the state’s housing finance agency. They provide a resource list for people who are homeless, about to experience homelessness, or who need to help paying for housing. It contains information on emergency assistance, public housing, and rent subsidies.
